Build your career where the work is broad
We're a chartered accounting firm, and we're always interested in people who want to do the work properly. If that's you, we'd like to hear from you — whether or not we have a vacancy posted.
Why a smaller firm is worth considering
In a large practice you are likely to spend your first years on one section of one type of engagement, for clients you never speak to. The training is structured, but narrow.
Here the work is the opposite shape. In a single month you might prepare a set of management accounts, work on a tax computation, help pull together an audit file, draft a set of resolutions, and sit in on a conversation about whether a client should sell their business. You will know the clients by name, because you will be the one answering them.
That breadth is the point. It is how you find out which part of the profession you actually want to specialise in — and it is a great deal harder to get on a production line.
What the work involves
- Bookkeeping and management accounts — the monthly cycle for a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, in AutoCount, SQL Accounting and Xero.
- Tax — computations, capital allowance schedules, Form C, Form BE and CP204 estimates.
- Company secretarial — incorporations, annual returns, resolutions and SSM filings, working alongside the licensed secretary at C & C.
- Payroll — monthly processing with EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB submissions.
- Advisory — supporting business valuations and transaction work as you gain experience.
Who tends to do well here
We care much more about how someone thinks than about where they studied. The people who thrive here usually share three habits:
- They check. When a number looks odd, they find out why instead of posting it and moving on.
- They write clearly. Much of this job is explaining something technical to an owner who is not an accountant. If you can do that in plain language — in English, Malay or Mandarin — you are already ahead.
- They own the deadline. Statutory dates do not move. Knowing what is due, and flagging early when something is at risk, matters more than working late to rescue it.
Formal qualifications matter for progression, and we will talk openly about the route — but a part-qualified candidate who is curious and careful is more use to us than a fully qualified one who is neither.
Students and fresh graduates
We take on students for internships and industrial training, and we hire fresh graduates. You will not spend the placement photocopying. Expect real client files, with supervision and with your work reviewed properly — which is the only way anybody learns this job.
If you are looking for a placement to satisfy a university requirement, tell us the dates and the scope your programme expects and we will work with it.
How to apply
There is no online form and no application portal. Send a CV and a short note telling us what you are looking for — the note matters more than the CV format.
Email cll@cncgroup.com.my, or message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you where to send it. Where there is nothing suitable at the time, we will say so.
